Mazda has produced some exciting
sporting sedans over the years and the Mazda 6 MPS is set to
revive that tradition.
This is a turbocharged version of the 6, and it uses a
direct-injection four-cylinder petrol-engine, designated the
MZR.
Power there is a-plenty, said to be in the region of 200
kiloWatts, and a torque figure of 380 Newton metres is on tap
at just 3000 rpm.
To keep all this on the road there is a full-time
all-wheel-drive system with active torque control, a six-speed
manual transmission, and eighteen-inch wheels with Michelin
Pilot rubber.
The interior is not as sporty as we would have expected. The
accent is more on style than competition inside, and it
remains a full five-seater.
Will it come to South Africa? It’s just been launched in
Europe, so it’s too soon to tell.
