The Car torque concept was developed by Hooper Productions in response to a commissioning brief put out by SABC 3. 

The Hooper Productions team has a combined experience of more than 40 years in film and video programme production, and have produced over 800 hours of programming, a total of more than 2000 programmes (including “Gardens Wild & Wonderful” which ran for three years).  Based in Lonehill, north of Johannesburg, they have a small full time production team and make extensive use of freelance specialists.

Series Director – Ian Hooper.
Ian has extensive experience in the development of concepts, scriptwriting, directing and producing of programmes to high standards. Car torque was conceptualised by him and he will be involved in content development, direct the shoots, oversee post-production and quality control.

Producer – Jeremy Hooper
Jeremy is producer and project manager for all our productions. On this series he will be the producer and sound final mix. He is also the financial manager.

Content Editor - Stuart Johnston
Stuart has been a full time motoring journalist since 1979. He has worked extensively on newspapers and magazines, as well as the writing of scripts for TV programmes and corporate audiovisuals. He is on top of everything that’s happening in the motoring world. In his writing, he says he tries to get to the soul of the car. His style is descriptive and vibey, never dry. He says humour is essential to keep the viewer or reader locked in.
